When the month of Ramadan begins, Muslims enter into a month of worship and reflection, fasting during the day and praying throughout the day and night. During this month, special evening prayers are conducted in which long portions of the Quran are recited. These special prayers are known as Taraweeh. Masjid Qurtabah holds Taraweeh prayers every evening during Ramadan and is led by sheikhs specializing in Qu’ran recitation and taraweeh rulings.
